While we can’t force our students to do anything they don’t feel comfortable doing, having your group can only benefit you. As professionals, we are constantly connecting, growing and learning from each other in our careers.
In this course, we do group work as a way to bounce ideas off of each other, practice things like personal statements and mock interview questions, and as another added pillar of support.
The frequency that groups meet or the work they choose to do together is not part of the course curriculum. Groups are free to decide this on their own terms and depending on each member’s availability. We do recommend that groups meet at least once per week, if possible.
With that said, if you prefer to work on your own, I suggest you try a group for the first few weeks and if you still prefer solo work, then go for it. This way, at least you get to see what a group setting feels like within the course and community.
